Our Journey: From a Christmas Dream to the Dutch Stage
Barvinok - meaning periwinkle flower - was born in September 2023 from a beautiful purpose. Stichting Oekrainers in Eindhoven organised a Christmas concert and charity lottery to raise vital funds for medical supplies for doctors in Ukraine. It was for this event that Tanya Barvinko envisioned a dance group that could represent our culture and support the cause.
In just three months, we performed our first dance, "Pleskach" (Clapping), at that very concert. What started as a one-time performance grew into a permanent sisterhood. Today, we are a diverse group of women united by our shared history and a passion for keeping Ukrainian traditions alive in the Netherlands.
